Hey ! Hey! We will be performing at the Annual Lunar New Year Celebration

@ 11:30AM-1:30PM, Located at University Park @ Cal Poly Pomona!

We will be selling Yaki Soba which will be made freshh there :3!!!

We will also have some of Touzan Taiko T-shirts available at the booth!

This logo will be placed on a bottom corner of the shirt. The red thing is called a Daruma. In japan you draw one eye in when you set a goal, and once you reach the goal or promise you fill in the other eye. The idea of this t shirt is so that at the end of the year after Invitationals we can sew on a button on the eye. The drawing will also be refined a little moreso it will look nicer than the one displayed here.

To those who are interested in joining our taiko performing group for the year 2011-2012. We will be having our first formal teaching class:

Day: Monday, October 3rd
Time: 4pm-6pm
Place: Centaurus

and

Day: Tuesday, October 4th
Time: 4pm-6pm
Place: Ursa Minor

Both rooms are in the BSC (building 35) with Ursa Minor on the second floor and Centaurus on the first floor. Everyone is welcome to come join us. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. But do come in comfortable clothing and with lots and lots of ENERGY (and positive attitude of course). We will see you there taiko-ers!!

I know all of you have been anxiously waiting to see Touzan taiko perform.. well here is your chance. Touzan taiko and many other collegiate taiko groups will be performing this weekend at UCLA.

Concert Schedule:

Saturday: UCLA Yukai Daiko, Cal Poly Pomona Touzan Taiko, UC Davis Bakuhatsu Dan, USC Kazan Taiko, CSUN Jishin Taiko, UCR Senryu Taiko

Sunday: UCI Jodaiko, Cal Raijin, Stanford Taiko, UCSD Asayake Taiko, LMU Shin Kanazaru Daiko, UCLA Kyodo Taiko

Where: Ackerman Grand Ballroom, UCLA

When: Saturday May 28th, 2011 and also Sunday May 29th 2011

Time: Doors open at 5:30pm but the performance starts at 6pm

Price: FREEEEE!!!!!!!

Thank you to everyone who came out to this event! It was awesome meeting all the JSAs from all the different schools! Would also like to thank everyone who made this event possible! I encourage everyone to attend this event next year, it was a lot of fun! It also doesn't hurt that we got 5th place out of 12 schools =) WOOT WOOT!

Amazing Joint Practice!

Touzan Taiko would like to thank Senryu from Riverside, Jishin from Northridge, and Psyko Taiko from Claremont for helping to set up a wonder joint practice!

For those who didnt make it, we had over 60 people and 40 drums in one parking structure! Amazing fun and Round 1 after!

This year will be the 17th Annual Taiko Invitational, and will be hosted by UCLA’s taiko groups, Kyodo Taiko and Yukai Daiko. Invitational will be held on Memorial Day weekend, the 28th and 29th of May

Touzan Taiko is proud to say that we will be Officially Charted this year!!

We are now merged with JSA

General Meetings U- Hour in Building 9 room 2-11!

FALL QUARTER

What is taiko? If you don't know come check us out for this quarter!! No experience required and no fee's!! Come and you will get a chance learn how to play! Remember only fall quarter!!

Week 1 - 7

We will be teaching basic form, technique, and a tryout piece

Week 8-9

Auditions for performing group will be held. Members will audition with tryout piece they were taught during the first 7 weeks! Come be our 2nd Generation of performers!

Dont want to perform? Dont worry! Auditions is Optional and only if you want to perform. You can still come and practice with us if you do not want to perform :)

**It is important to attend all the practices because there will be new material each week!! ESPECIALLY if you want to join the performing group!
